Made of clay and cement, with a black enamel finish and a transparent acrylic varnish, this piece reinterprets an ancestral symbol.
The megalithic bull is one of the most remarkable animal representations found in the prehistoric temples of Malta, built between approximately 3600 and 2500 BC. These sculptures and reliefs depict robust bulls with massive bodies and prominent horns, symbols associated with strength, fertility, and abundance. Remains discovered in temples such as Tarxien suggest that the bull played an important ritual role within the beliefs of ancient Maltese communities. Skillfully carved from local limestone, these animals reflect the close relationship between Malta’s megalithic society, nature, and its religious practices.
